The Shouldice Technique

Since the Shouldice repair was last described in this journal 10 years ago, many new techniques for hernia repair have been introduced. In spite of the enthusiasm with which each of these new procedures has been greeted, not all have lived up to their initial promise. With its continued high success rate, even after very long-term follow-up, it only makes sense to revisit the Shouldice procedure.
